Clothes Drying Rack Design

This project showcases a meticulously engineered solution to modern drying needs, combining lightweight design, durability, and compact functionality. 

Designed to be built from corrosion-resistant 6061 aluminum, the design boasts a high weight capacity with a conservative factor of safety (FOS) of approximately 5, supporting up to 40 pounds of load. Advanced structural analysis, including rung bending and column buckling calculations, ensured reliability under real-world conditions. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) further validated the design's ability to withstand up to 60 pounds without significant stress concentrations. 

The folding mechanism incorporates pin-joint connections and sheet metal supports, enabling compact storage and portability without sacrificing structural rigidity. To enhance stability, the design features low-durometer rubber feet, selected through frictional force analysis for optimal performance on smooth surfaces like wood and tile. Cost optimization was achieved by refining material selection and simplifying fasteners, ensuring the product remains affordable without compromising quality.
