This project was all about designing and building a robot that could move forward, detect obstacles, and reverse direction. Our main focus was on making it fast, lightweight, and reliable, while keeping it easy to build using a mix of laser-cut, 3D-printed, and store-bought parts.
The robot uses two motors to drive a gear system that powers rotating spokes, which push it forward with maximum grip and minimal slipping. We made tweaks like adding mineral oil to reduce friction and optimizing the spoke shape to boost performance. Testing showed great results, and we even found ways to improve things like obstacle detection and energy efficiency.
In the end, this robot was one of the fastest in the competition, thanks to its efficient design and creative approach to using rotating spokes.
